Leire Barrera-Medrano (Birkbeck, University of London)

Leire Barrera-Medrano is working towards a PhD at Birkbeck College, University of London entitled ‘Spain and British Decadence, 1880-1914.’ She is currently teaching English and comparative literature at Birkbeck and Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2014, she catalogued the ‘Fernández Giménez Collection.’ The collection, currently held in the USA, contains circa 2,200 items belonging to the Spanish art critic, playwright and diplomat José Fernández Giménez (1832-1903).  In 2015, she was invited to organise a cycle of seminars on Anglo-Spanish artistic relations at Colorado State University as a visiting scholar. She also co-edits Girasol Press, a publishing endeavour that seeks to try the porous boundaries between Spanish and English.

Sasha Dovzhyk (Birkbeck, University of London)

Sasha (Olexandra) Dovzhyk is a PhD student at Birkbeck College, University of London. Her thesis, funded by Birkbeck School of Arts, explores the reception of the late-Victorian artist Aubrey Beardsley in Russia. She received MA in Victorian Studies from Birkbeck (2013) and MA in Cultural Studies from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Kyiv (2011).
